How Does It Work?
"When going back makes sense, you are going ahead."-Wendell Berry
The EarthWonders Movement™ integrates nature-inspired health and environmental wellness principles and practices into our lifestyles, workplaces, and communities. It is designed to create an atmosphere that stimulates and supports all life through all stages and all seasons.
We believe our environments have the ability to shape us, limit us or empower us, depending on whether we see ourselves as part of or separate from the rest of the natural world. At EarthWonders, we definitely see ourselves as part of nature. Going back - reconnecting with our roots - is the pathway forward. The Baby Boomer generation is said to be the "last generation connected to nature." This knowledge, the land ethics, the lessons from nature are teachable moments waiting to be captured and passed on to inspire the next generation of stewards. An EarthWonders Community fosters this important connection.
Indigenous cultures have always had a strong sense of place. Their survival depended on understanding and respecting the natural world in a very intimate way. They were acutely aware of the distinctive climate, soils, water sources, plants and animals that surrounded them. Caring for the earth was caring for themselves in a very real way. They lived with the understanding that quality of environment equals quality of life. As we moved to the Industrial Age, we've become much less aware of our connection to the natural world and of its importance to us. An EarthWonders Community™ recaptures the human experience of nature, connecting people with nature directly, indirectly or symbolically. Our Communities produce positive sustainable outcomes for individuals, families, organizations, communities and our planet. It also provides an opportunity for us to leave an environmental legacy for future generations - one we can be proud of.
EarthWonders employs an evolutionary process to steadily improve all nine dimensions of health and well-being by learning from nature's 3.8 billion years of wisdom. The Ecology of Caring Integrated Approach™ is a comprehensive systems approach that integrates the nature-health connection along with environmental wellness principles and practices into personal lifestyles, workforce development models, leadership and organizational practices, and physical environments. It's good for people, planet and profitability!
